Has anybody got any news about the '62 stock renovation in Hainault depot please?

I don't think a lot is happening to the Cravens Heritage Trains Unit. Hopefully some connected with it can update us. The 1960s stock unit is also OOS.

The 1960s stock unit is also OOS. Isn't the 1960TS waiting for parts from the Track Recording Train once that's withdrawn?

I believe the 1960TS Unit at Northfields just has a few technical niggles to sort out, then onwards to CTC. As for the 1962TS at Hainault it indeed appears to be a long process, but with sensitive edges renewed, all doors overhauled, cab floors being sorted, the interior gradually being repainted and wood work renewed, it is a long hard slog.

Well - Centralised Traffic Control - as used on the Stanmore branch when it was still Metropolitan. However I think what is meant is CHT. Note the stylised representation of the control desk in Wembley Park. ;D

I believe CTC stands for Certificate of Technical Conformity

as elo10538 says, mechanically and electrically it is in reasonable shape, the main work involves the woodwork around the widows and odd bits of floor. The seats are all out in safe storage. It's a big project for a small group of volunteers with a few hours a week to spare...........

the woodwork around the widows are these special seats for older women?

I'd love to volunteer and help get the '62 moving if I could! Its great to hear its in good condition, are cravens heratige trains still in business these days? I was discussing this with a few others at an A stock scrapping and the subject came up, the lack of updates on the website seems to suggest they haven't really been active since 2004 or so.

Ajax - My copy of Railways Restored 2012, has the contact details for Cravens Heritage Trains as: C/O Robert Ward, 29 Carlton Avenue, Hertford. SG14 2GR. No telephone or e-mail.
I would expect they would be very pleased to have any assistance you could offer.

CHT are definitely on the lookout for new members and people able to help the restoration. The application form is down-loadable from their website www.cravensheritagetrains.co.uk . Membership sec is Fred Vincent, 45 Weald Rd, Hillingdon, Middlesex, UB10 0HQ. I think Fred is a member here too............. PS I've checked my spelling this time
