i bet the workforce aren't under the tensions like at bombardier with the pressure of jobs,a relaxed workforce is a productive one. i absolute love vienna,when visited some years ago there was not even any ticket barriers,you bought your ticket on trust,absolutely beautiful.it still looks that way today and yes i have still those tickets as souvenirs.trust breeds trust. www.visitingvienna.com/transport/public/

It's always struck me, why on earth are trains on the continent so ugly?! Probably because they are more bothered about them being fit for purpose than being "pretty".

But the thing is, mopst of the trains over there especially that new Russian sleeper stock, looks all out of proportion and dead ugly!

Unfortunately for train enthusiasts like you (and to a lesser extent me) who like the cut of a nice carriage, the manufacturers in their logical way are, quite rightly, far more concerned with how many people they can shift, and how quickly they can do it in an ever more demanding world. Failure to achieve that will inevitably end up with somebody moaning on a transport forum somewhere about how bad the railways are. Can't win. ;D
