There were some problems involving failed trains around East India today. From what was going on, I tried to take an alternative route but it appeared that it would have been quicker to stick with my original choice. It appeared from that that there were failed trains each side of East India.
Was that what actually happened or was there something else going on as well?

Trams run on streets... The DLR does not... tho one did try just that at Island Gardens shortly after the system opened!

Errr ... I think you'll find that one tried it at Island Gardens before the system opened during unauthorised testing.

Are the DLR trains not called cars, units, or vehicles?

Are the DLR trains not called cars, units, or vehicles? Yes, one articulated unit is referred to as a 'car', so extending the stsations for 3-car trains means making space for 6 'vehicles(?)'

I think "vehicle" (and pretty much any other word you can think of) also refers to a whole car. You probably have to use the word "half" somewhere to specify when you're not talking about a whole one.

Getting silly (it's saturday evening...) the last time I heard that particular phrase was when a colleague was asked if he actually liked children. His answer was 'Yes, but I couldn't eat a whole one'.Sorry, I'll push off now.........

Here's what I got from DLR when I asked ages ago about three car services (whether it was two 3 part trains or three two part trains). Have to say David's a really nice guy! Thanks for the email. Currently DLR operates a 'two-car' train service, i.e. two rail cars bolted on to one another to form a train. From 2009 a three-car service will operate from Bank-Lewisham, and then across the remaining parts of the DLR network from 2010.
