I realise probably nobody can answer this one, but WHY can't people open the windows on the District Line during stiflingly hot weather?
I've lost count of the number of times I've got into stuffy hot and crowded carraiges only to see that ALL the windows are shut - and nobody seemingly having the presense of mind to open them (and I'm too far away to get near enough to do so). How difficult can it be?!
It's just bizarre. And annoying as well.

I think it's a politeness thing, people worry that it will irritate other people if they open the windows. Myself on the other hand, I just open the windows and let people glare!

It seems to have become a weird fashion/trend on the D-Stock on hot days over the last two years.
Really cannot work it out, but it very much irritates me.

Maybe it's because so many people are used to air conditioned trains/buses/buildings in which you can't open the window that people no longer automatically assume that there are windows you can open if it's too hot. Not helped by the deep-level tubes not having opening windows either.

Probably because it's been raining most days, if the windows are open the rain rides up the window and showers over whomever is seated at the window end.
There has hardly been warm day anyway.
I find it blatently rude if someone boards a train and immediately opens a window, to the oblivion of those of us already on the train and comfortable. Take your coat off!! I close the window back up if it's cool or drafty!

Can't say the problem has moved over to the mainline. Well on FCC anyway.
Warm weather windows open, although becomes noisy through the tunnels. Cooler - and more common this summer- and the windows shut.
Been a few chilly mornings and especially when damp a bit of heat on one of their first trains is much appreciated.

As my daft old granny used to say: "Don't sit in a draught, or you'll catch cold!"

If only this behaviour was seen on air-conditioned buses. I rarely seem to board one in warm weather where all the hoppers aren't open, the air conditioning merrily trying to cool the outside air as well as that on board.

TfL really should record an announcement for the ibus that should be activated when the air conditioning is switched on
