Great footage.. Also, the times seem to have changed quite a bit.. (especially platform lengths)

Annoying how the link says 'Monorails'.. Funny enough, monorail was one of the proposals for the Docklands, which also included express buses, more roads and bus lanes, extending the tube or BR lines, dedicated busways, guided buses, street trams, automated trams, Maglev and cable cars.

I remember it well! 25 years since it opened now (well this summer), can't really believe that amount of time has passed!

Yep, 25 years on 31/8/12 - smack in the middle of the Olympics et al. Amazing then with just 11 vehicles and a 10-minute service on each route (STR-ISG and TOG-ISG).
Royal opening 30/7/87, and amazingly, from the following day, demolition commences of Canary Wharf (unopened and unused short 2-platformed) station.
Shooting very much off topic (sorry), 31/8/12 is also 25 years since OPO on the Piccadilly Line - the first deep tube OPO conversion.

I also seem to remember that there was quite a serious flood at Euston that year too. And of course, not directly related to the Underground but had an effect, the Great Storm in October.

I would've preferred a monorail- it would be a tourist attraction. However, a light rail has more capacity.
