Hi all Found this link of Google: www.londonreconnections.com/2012/a-brief-look-inside-the-s7-stock/I notice that in this particular carriage they have hand straps. Will this be a fixture when in service on the Underground? I only ask because the orange doesn't go and also if you look closely it doesn't look like they are in the other carriages behind it. kabsonline

The orange would be directly taken from Class 378s.

The S7 stock looks nice I have yet to go on the S8 stock but it will be my main priority to get on one.

Thats very strange, I thought the hole point of the poles was to replace these on LU.

I think the District should still get a different internal layout of train... a fleet of S8-1s, perhaps?
Why were the platforms at Blackfriars not lengthened to take an S8 during the closure? It would be nice if the District could, however many years from now, share trains with the Met

I'm usually for strap hangers, but these look dreadful, not least because they're orange!
I say they bring back the bobble hangers - so much better.

Alight, it is very likely these aren't the real straphangers..most likely taken from an LO train..

Alfie, indeed you've already mentioned that. However, it isn't clear whether they've simply used them for the purposes of a mock-up or whether they will be a more suitable colour. It may well be a case of the former as the orange ones would be bought in as a standard component.

Alfie, the blog author (who took the photograph) did indeed confirm it's from an LO 378. I assume the grab-poles will identical to the S8's - why would the latter's be yellow if not for interchangeability? Aside: RVAR [1] is often thrown about as a/the reason for yellow grab poles on single line stocks, eg 95TS. Why is this? RVAR section 10, Handrails, makes no mention of contrast whatsoever. I notice that there is protective matting fitted and metal covers with hazard stripes between the cars.

There have been many complaints about that lack handrails on the Metropolitan S8 stock. I can only assume that the management are thinking ahead and trying to design in additional grab handles for the S7 stock. After all, it is likely that these trains will be carrying more passengers.

As the photographer I should reiterate that the strap hangers are being considered - they'd be yellow if they get them - and the orange ones were simply borrowed off LO to carry out the tests!
