It was reported they would try to put them on the H&C line before the Olympics to serve West Ham station. A gateway station to the Greenaway (sewer bank to the locals).

I think it's at Barbican, there's an S7 and an S8 board at the same station somewhere..
After the Olympics, will the S7s be free to roam the SSLs? Or stuck in one depot, and thus most likely one line, (barring disruptions)?
Ooh, why are they terminating at Moorgate? S8-1s have already run to Aldgate East..

Initially onto the H&C only, Barking towards years end.

If it was at Finchley road, it would have been a transfer from Neasden to Hammersmith. There have been a few Iop/ station staff familiarisation runs to Moorgate from Hammersmith too over the last week or so. An S8-1 is due to be turned via the North curve tommorrow so its facing the right way for the insertion of its 8th car. Can anybody confirm the numbering sequence of the cars on an S7 please? S8's are easy to work out as they simply repeat i.e.
21001 -22001-23001-24001-24002-23002-22002-21002
But Ive seen some 253nn numbered cars mentioned for an S7.
Cheers

21301-22301-23301-24301-23302-22302-21302 Remember that S8 trains 21001/21002-21055/21056 & S7 train 21301/21302-21385/21386 contain a deicing motor car at the even-end 23xxx position, thus numbered 25xxx . So the S7 train listed, should be: 21301-22301-23301-24301- 25302-22302-21302 The S8 in dangeruxb's post should correctly be: 21001 -22001-23001-24001-24002- 25002-22002-21002

The 253xx numbers in S7s are the de-icers -
21302-22302-25302-24302-24301-22301-21301
and so on, with the last de-icer being
21386-22386-25386-24386-24385-22385-21385
then
21388-22388-23388-24388-24387-22387-21387
and so on with the last S7 being
21566-22566-23566-24566-24565-22565-21565

It went to Barking for training / preparation for the forthcoming (on target) commencement of services to Barking by the S7s.
S-stock is now permitted east of Moorgate (with certain restrictions).

I'm doing nights this week and at Barking on Sat night, if it's still there I might have a nosey about on it.

I assume you mean beyond the Metropolitan line route to Aldgate in that ;-) Can you say what the restrictions are? ;D Yes, what I meant to say is that the S7 stock is now permitted east of Moorgate. S8s have been allowed to Aldgate for some time, but S7s - although of the same shape etc. - have not. Having re-checked my paperwork, the restrictions are very few and fairy obvious: It cannot go further east than Barking, and cannot use Farringdon sidings. The former is obvious, the latter was known at the time they were allowed to Moorgate.

It may be obvious to you, but I thought S7s were designed to run to Upminster, which (last time I checked) was further east of Barking I assume, by that token, that there's some more work to be done at that end of the network?

My guess is current work package is to allow them to run on H&C so no touch east of Barking yet. Use the resources to upgrade things as they are required for testing not too far in advance or you waste money. Something Metronet would have put it place.

They will be passed to operate to/from Upney too, for access into Barking sidings if the west access is blocked. The current S7 is there to test signal sighting in/around the Barking area.

I saw 21311 sat at Moorgate late last night showing T700 to Hammersmith. Was tempted to bail for it but wasnt sure if it was in pax service running under this number?

That's part of the "preview service" running since July. T700 M-F "runs as required": 1007 Hammersmith-Moorgate 1040 1055 MGT-HMS 1127 1128 HMS-MGT 1202 1210 MGT-HMS 1241. 1428 HMS-MGT 1502 1510 MGT-HMS 1541. 2028 HMS-MGT 2102 2110 MGT-HMS 2141 2142 HMS-MGT 2217 2225 MGT-HMS 2257.
