winter weather?
I only ask this as it's been warm this week and my journey home from work on the Circle Line/Hammersmith and City has been a right nightmare all week. (apart from Monday which I had the good fortune to catch a train at Paddington, Pread Street and it didn't terminate at Edgware Road it kept on.
I can see now again today there is a signal failure at Embankment. It must be one of those weeks!

It is just an unfourtunate week - none of the failures have been weather related.
Summer & winter do have their own unique set of problems though, such as ice in winter yet the potential for buckled rails in summer, for example.

I believe it can especially with track. On train components have operating temperatures which when exceed their amount they will fail. Example: resistors. As some of you may well be aware, if you add excess heat to some metals, they get stronger. However with other metals they will fatigue/fail when weight is applied.

Yesterday I travelled from the south coast to Taunton via London, and was hit with signal failures on the Brighton mainline (at East Croydon), the Circle (Embankment), and the Great Western mainline (Reading). Only 40 mins late getting home in the end though.

Wondering what was going on on the Overgound tonight. A tree falling onto the OHP and catching fire? Not what I'd expect on a fine and sunny day like today!

Speed restriction implemented on northern end of Jubilee Line this afternoon as rails were at risk because of heat

Would have thought the rails at Finhcley Road were risky anyway let alone with the heat!
