Hello all, new member and this is my first posting so here goes....
Are there still any scheduled Met Line journeys that terminate in the bay platforms 3 and 4 at Moorgate please? I recall many years back (1970's) using, from time to time, the two that ran towards the end of the morning peak which then stayed all day there before reversing for Uxbridge and Watford around 4/4.30 in the afternoon, this was before the introduction of the all day Aldgate service.

There are no scheduled Moorgate reversers in the current timetable, although most days they are used to reverse a late running Aldgate service. It is only relatively recently that scheduled Moorgate reversers have disappeared from the timetable. They often used to be in the peak shoulders. However, it has been a long time since Met trains stabled there between the peaks.

Welcome to the forum! Back in the 70s I understand that there were also interpeak stablers at Aldgate too (not sure about Liverpool Street). The theory was that Aldgate could not handle all the City terminators so the Amersham/Chesham service was worked from Liverpool Street bay, with the Uxbridge and some Watfords starting at Aldgate. I think some Watfords also started from Moorgate. I remember in the early 2000s there was a Watford-Moorgate S/F train in the morning but this was replaced some years ago. There are now no 'booked' Met reversers at Moorgate, however, there is probably several a week as it is used as a short trip point to recover late running from Aldgate. Moorgate is also used to break up the Circle and H&City service regularly.

Of course, in the early days of the S-stock working, the last booked working for S-stock of the night was a Watford - Moorgate service around 8pm or so, then back up north to Wembley Park/Harrow/Watford (I can't remember)!

Sorry harrovian welcome to the forum - bit of back story: I've got most of the working timetables for this era, but they're all tucked up snug sleeping in boxes waiting for some new roomy bookshelves after a house move.

Thanks again, when I started working in town in early 70's I was amazed that the Met/Circle/H&C had five consecutive potential stabling points from Aldgate to Farringdon. Just slightly off topic, I know it is no longer possible to use Liverpool Street and Barbican but is Farringdon used much?

With all the Thameslink and Crossrail works going on at Farringdon only one siding (24 Road) is available for stabling and one C stock train stables there nightly.

During the era of off-peak uncoupling, there was an interpeak stabler that used Uxbridge's platform 1, rather than the sidings.

Also used to reverse H&C trains when there is a problem east of Whitechapel given the reduction in the number of platforms there for Crossrail interchange.
The West Ham siding doesn't seem to be used.

A belated post, Moorgate to Aldgate out of action this weekend so went down to Moorgate yesterday to see Met trains reversing in platforms 3 and 4 for what is probably (?) the last chance to see A Stocks performing scheduled turn backs there.
Quite a few A's reversing if you spent enough time waiting around, the Hammersmith & City services were reversing from platfrom 1.

Alas on Saturday there were never 2 A stocks in platforms 3 and 4 at the same time whilst I was there, I spent quite some time afterwards at Barbican and Farringdon taking photographs and did not see 2 A stocks on route to Moorgate consecutively.
