There is an article in the current edition of Backtrack magazine (June 2012) about the naming of the Metropolitan electric locomotives in 1925. A very interesting read giving a potted biography of the personages that they were named after. Did you know that Sarah Siddons lived in a house the site of which is now the Bakerloo Baker Street station and LU lost property office?

Does the book give details of what Sarah did and does it give any information regarding John Hampden.

I think there is (or certainly used to be) a statue of Sarah Siddons at/near Paddington Green?
