Me again with another Wiki related question. Apparently there is a 1959 Stock at the Alderney Railway in the Channel Islands. How did they get it to the Channel Islands? kabsonline

On a boat. Believe it or not LUL exported these 1959 units in exchange for the Alderney Railway's previous (1938) stock which was then stripped for spares.

Yes the steel bodied 38s rusted to bits out there so the 'Mars Bar' liveried DM pair went over.

I so wanted to reply that the Northern line had been temporarily extended from Morden to Alderney and the tunnel had been back filled afterwards. But that is my warped sense of humour.

Was the extension made through the Isle of Wight, in order to save a few nautical miles using the LU standard Isle of Wight railway ?

The now scrapped 1986 battery locos would get the 1959 TS cars down to Folkstone or Newhaven on a full charge.
