Does anyone have any detail of what the end result is going to be of the construction works on the upper level DLR platforms (I think 3&4) at Canning Town? There is mention of congestion easing and a temporary staircase on the local posters, but I'm curious to know how the former will be achieved and where the latter will be!

I saw some of the paperwork on this months ago and from memory I think the idea is to fill in some of the space where there are openings where escalators / stairs rise up from the LU level. This will create more floor space at DLR level. I understand the staircase will link between the DLR upper level and DLR lower level but it is only a temporary structure. I think it is off the southern end of the DLR platforms but I may be wrong about that. The staircase is to create more interchange capacity in recognition of the impact of the different DLR service patterns during the Games.  |
