Would it be possible to install CCTV on the 1992 stock? And have a 2009 stock, "Copycat", system where the train operator, can keep a constant eye on passengers. The only reason I say this is because I was on one of the recently refurbished 1992 stocks today, and some idiot had completely trashed the brand new windows of the train They had scratched them to pieces, probably by the Olympics, the 92 stock will look the way it looked before refurbishment. Would this system be possible?

Chavs'll get the cameras vic, they are very advanced on the Central! Plus it'd cost a bomb, in addition to the refresh/urb.. That would be if there aren't already cameras, and I don't know if they have cameras on LU trains at all, it's something I completely overlook

Would this system be possible? The whole point of the new windows is that they come out as a unit and can be replaced a lot quicker than the old ones. Just how would a TOp keep a constant eye on 8 cars when we are meant to be monitoring the line ahead in Auto or actually driving the thing in manual? There are cameras on the W&C 1992TS I believe If there are they’re not available to the TOp in the cab and if they were we wouldn't spend much time looking at them as it's all manual driving down there, you spend all your time checking the speedo.

Train operators only really look at the saloon CCTV if a PEA is pulled (and can look at the picture from one end of one car at a time). They also might have a nosey if they spot a leggy blonde getting on on the platform OPO They are recorded permanently for use by the BTP though.

Surely a a train operator needs all his/her attention on the road ahead and could not be constantly glancing at CCTV monitors.

There's CCTV on the S Stock. It doesn't stop people scratching the windows or applying a new paint job to the outside

Perhaps monitors in the cars themselves - as on certain models of London bus - would dissuade all but the most determined criminal.

you then run in to issues such as heat generated by the monitors and how to deal with it. I know we've discussed this before (probably last year at the latest) in relation to advertising screens but I'm on my phone at the moment and so I'm not in a position to hunt the thread.
