Just a progress update really. Work is going well on the Q23/Acton Shuttle. I am currently reworking the kit at the moment. The good news is that the old bogies are being redesigned so they will fit together better. This goes for both A2 motor bogie and K2 trailer bogie. Many of you (including me!) will be pleased to hear that the K2 bogie will be metal and will therefore be available for other uses such as under Q31/35 trailers, H stock trailers and Dreadnought (and conveted T stock) cars. The underframe equipment is also being rectified as it was not correct. The biggest change is the make up of the kit. The G(23) and Q23 cars differed in that the marker light shutter locations differed. There is now a choice of location along with separate control pipe locations and ward coupler. I'm hoping the latter pair will be a feature of all Q stock. There will also be semi-flush glazing too. Photos to follow when ready.

Progress is slowly be made on my 6 car train of Q Stock too. I have come up with a way of close coupling the coaches utilising Bachmann couplings!

I trust the K2s will be available seperately..... Good news as, although I have one six-car set on the go, one can never have enough Q stock!

A bit of an update: The Q23/G23 upgrade is nearly complete. This kit is starting to look very nice and more importantly will be more like the prototype and the bogies are easier to assemble.
The good news is that after this the Q31/35 trailer will receive attention and finally the Q27 driver will be released. The Q38 stock is not forgotten. The upgrade of the Q23 car includes a sprue with pipes and ward coupler for the other Q stock (and even standard stock).
In addition to all this, there maybe something very special in the pipeline.....

Are you doing 'flush' glazing for these items? If so, will it be available separately?
Not sure if it's right to assume anything, but assuming they fit the old LBC resin bodies there could be a small market for people to upgrade old kits they're bought/built.
Good bogies would be nice. My curent 2 items are on Bachmann BR Mk1 bogies which means they run well on Peco track, but I've had to do some jiggery pokery with the actual fitting/pivoting to the cars. On my Q23 driver the collector beams and weathering grot hide the bogie detail. On the Q38 trailer I need to do something with the sideframes.
So much to do, so little time.....

Yes all Q converted stock will have flush glazing. I would imagine it will be available separately. Please not the glazing will not be totally flush on all the cars as it wasn't actually flush until the L stock! Therefore the Q23 and Q27 will semi-flush. It will still look better than it does at the moment. You are correct that the new glazing will fit the old LBC models Re the bogies, I sick of the old bogies. The new ones will fit together well, especially as romford wheels seem to have wider axles now and the current bogies dont meet well. This will be amended with the new sets and they will be a very strong fit! The BR Mk1 bogies certainly don't look anything like the Q38 bogies! ;D

I see Radley are now advertising an L trailer due to be released later this year. IIUC this would be a Q31 trailer in q-speak?

Yes I need to have a word. It should be a Q31 or Q35 trailer. I expect I'll be reworking it for the flush glazing. I'm hoping to get some new Q stock transfers made to. Watch this space. The flush glazing for the Q23/G23 is coming on well. Hoping to get that finished next week.

A word of warning regarding the flush glazing...
I have had to do a vast amount of straightening out of the Q23 kit and therefore the flush glazing may not fit the older models windows that well without some trimming round the jambs of the windows etc.
The kit is nearly done!

By pure coincidence I picked my flush gazing for my 3 Q38 cars yesterday! What glue are you using to secure the glazing? XF

I use a thin application of PVA. Superglue leaves a mist round the glass. Those look like the pilot cars....

Thanks - I was not sure whether yo use PVA or UHU - never Superglue on windows - I found that out the hard way many years ago! They are pilot cars picked from Phil at Acton this year. They were just the bodies a few scratches to the paint and windows missing. I have all the bits apart from the chassis's they are on order from Phil. Something a little different for the layout! XF

I am doing both ;D i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc166/XercesFobe/DSCN6523edt3copy.jpgXF Edit: Lovely though your Q stock is, that image is rather large, so I've changed it to a link. Perhaps you could post a smaller size please? See Rule in the forum rules for image guidance. Thanks, DH

The Q23 car is nearly complete and next on the list is the Q27 motor. Updates to follow but at this stage it is likely to be a complete rebuild!

Quick question - What is the best method to secure the body to the chassis on Radley Models Q38 stock.
I finished the chassis and bogies for my 2 -car Q38 pilot set however as I bought these items separately it is not clear what the preferred method is for fitting the bodies to the chassis.
Thanks in advance.
Update - I found a solution I have 4small pieces fitted Plastistrut box section to the chassis and the ends and made the body a push fit

Thats what I do. I have a fixing plate in the middle with a nut and bolt. Be careful with the Q38s, they bow in the middle inwards. News update. The revised Q23/Acton Shuttle is being produced as we speak and looks great. There are new features including new air pipes, ward coupler and different marker light locations. Semi-flush glazing too.

He he! They do warp a bit though. I'm also working on a load of transfers for Pre-1938 stock, H stock, Q stock, 1960 stock, 1967/72 stock and T stock Also got the go ahead to produce an A62 trailer modification kit.
