I think though it will be simerlar to the Jubilee line there will probably be TBTC testing at weekends and then weekdays they might run using the old signaling. TBTC has to be shown its reliable and safe before they can start bringing ATO in. According to Rail magazine it will be driven in PM mode then gradually introducing ATO like the Jubilee line did.

I'll have another try ..... the Northern line will be introduced with ATO from the start of the first section. Most of the testing will take place in engineering hours. There is a small number of weekend closures in addition for intensive testing but there are no plans for "weekend revenue service" as the Jubilee had.

A brief update. This weekend test trains have been successfully running in both PM and ATO between West Finchley and High Barnet. A few teething troubles but looking promising.

Awesome, passenger service?
When will drivers begin to be trained?
Are you allowed to elaborate on the nature of the teething problems?

Awesome, passenger service? When will drivers begin to be trained? Are you allowed to elaborate on the nature of the teething problems? I don't think an exact date for passenger service has been announced publicly yet but driver training starts in September immediately after the Olympics and will take around 5 months so I'll leave it to you to calculate the likely earliest date ! I won't go into detail on the issues except to say that the cause of them is well understood and they are being addressed.
