It could be the angle of the photo, but the fixed red lights on the far platform look a lot closer to the buffers than those on the near platform. Why would that be?

The buffers appear to be at different distances from the end of the bay too.

Optical illusion I suspect Chris - I was level with the fixed red lights for platform 8 (platform nearest).....
Saying that, the traffic circular entry reveals that platform 8's fixed red lights are "approximately" 7m from the buffer face whilst platform 9's are just 3m from the buffer face!
Of course the other end of both platforms are staggered, but quite why it's translated as such at this end is perhaps for someone like Tom to answer....
