Reading the Standard article in the Blackfriars thread about old steam railway platforms being demolished makes me wonder what is hidden historically from the public underground that is not known about in the public www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-24018128-commuter-misery-as-blackfriars-reopening-delayed.doI already know that there are various stations that doubled as air raid shelters and abandoned stations, but what else is there e.g. other platforms, a hidden steam engine, old ticket machines etc? Is there any way these will ever be open to the public?

Reading the Standard article in the Blackfriars thread about old steam railway platforms being demolished makes me wonder what is hidden historically from the public underground that is not known about in the public That reads as if there are platforms at Blackfriars that have lain there disused for 100 years. Is that true, or is it just that the two platforms in use (until the present rebuilding) were built in the steam age?

Reading the Standard article in the Blackfriars thread about old steam railway platforms being demolished makes me wonder what is hidden historically from the public underground that is not known about in the public What they are almost certainly referring to there is just the old platforms that were in use as part of the circle/district line. Remember, there used to be steam trains running along that track. There aren't any "hidden platforms" there.

Sounds like you may be interested in this website! www.abandonedstations.org.uk/ Is there any way these will ever be open to the public? ...doubt it, sorry

Surely the platforms being demolished at Blackfriars are the old terminal platforms and the old through platforms of Network rail.
