The Met line had a signal failure at Rayners Lane this morning. A Westbound A stock train (sorry did not get number) was seen setting back wrong road from Rayners junction to West Harrow at 8am.
The Met was also suspended between Wembley & Aldgate due to late running engineering work.
In addition the Pic & District were suffering signalling problems at Acton due to a signal failure.

Much as I can see the OP pointing out the problems on the Met this morning, would it not have been more fitting to mention these rather than the, in my opinion, Evening Standard type headline in the thread title.
Yes, a train was returned to the platform at West Harrow, using tried and tested and fully safe procedures this morning, in order that the customers on board were not left on a stranded train (due to a failure).

A pity there are problems sometimes, however for what it's worth I think LU recover well from these situations usually. Take the previous weekend, a defective train at Bkr St - like clockwork pic trains extended to Uxbridge and mets turned back at Ruislip. Passengers hardly notice anything was wrong on the Uxb branch. Worth every penny of my £8.50.

This sounds like a vast improvement on my days as a callpoint technician called to an A stock train that had run over a scaffold pole west of Rayners Lane, The hoops and procedures required to go through to allow the train to set back no more than 10 feet to allow the tangled metal pole to be cleared from under the train was phenomenal and made a 2 minute job more like an hour and a half.
Well done to those involved in this recent incident.

Do we know the A stock units involved? Sounds like the team did a good job here. It's nice to rear about a positive story.
