That seems like one hell of a trip across London (and back again) to transfer a train a few miles as the crow files.
I assume the routing was Ruislip LUL - Ruislip NR (reverse) - Greenford - Ealing Broadway - Acton Wells Jct - NLL - Stratford - Lea Valley Line - South Tottenham - Gospel Oak - Willesden Jct - Stonebridge Park?
There must be a reason, but why couldn't LUL transfer the train, using the Battery Locos over its own network via the Met, Jubilee, Bakerloo via a Reverse at some location?

Otherwise, you could just reverse at Willesden and omit NLL - Stratford - Lea Valley Line - South Tottenham - Gospel Oak - Willesden Jct from the route above (edited to remove off topic material to its own thread)

I was wondering the same thing why it was going via Network Rail, interesting enough it actually returns via the Jubilee Line overnight

Greetings
as some of you may know, the train also ran the previous friday,
type 8M99 into youtube and there are several videos shot at wacky locations well off the regular track for Battery Locos
My Video shows it here departing West Ruislip on NR
I've heard reports that this weeks train is returning via NR leaving Stonebridge Pk around Lunchtime on Sunday.
anyone able to confirm ??
Charmed Phil

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the engine would fit into the Jubilee/Bakerloo tunnels enroute.

THowever, the point is, the large locomotive is being used to deliver the two smaller ones and their trucks via NR tracks because for whatever reason, the usual route the small battery locos would have taken on their own, probably via the tunnels, was unavailable

Well of course the obvious way to do the move would have been onto the Met via Ruislip siding, then via the Jubilee and Bakerloo Lines, and probably reversing via London Road depot. But of course since the advent of the Jubilee's all-singing all-dancing TBTC signalling system this can only be done after Close of Traffic under Jubilee Line engineers possession (another step forward!). I would also think the route taken was designed to avoid reversing and thus either employ an extra Class 66 or have a single diesel uncouple and runaround somewhere. When LU was really progressive they had an un-electrified connection with BR at Olympia and the formation would have taken a short cut via the WLL on battery power. Yes, it is done to avoid the issues with TBTC on the Jubilee Line. The TRV suffers from this also because it is not fitted with TBTC equipment.
Tonight the TRV transfers from Neasden to Stonebridge Depot via an OSP / Possession. Tomorrow evening it will record the Bakerloo Line to a STN and on Tuesday night it does the reverse Possession / OSP to get back to Neasden Depot.
So three shifts to do one recording shift.

Would it have cost that much more (in the grand scheme of things) to fit at least some of the Battery Locos with TBTC? Then they might have been able to pull things like the TRV though...

Does anyone know how long these 8M99's will last? Seems to be one each Friday. Obv the light gets slightly better each week at 16:40-ish when it departs West Ruislip. Do I need to get out soon or can I wait?

Least it'll become easier again when the Croxley Link opens.
Seems frustrating though that some form of rudimentary dual signalling couldn't have been spliced between Finchley Road and Baker Street.
