Oh... If you're going for gods of the underworld, you might as well go for unpronounceable ones! Batara Kala, Wepawet, Ningishzida, Tuoni, Vanatühi, Jiibayaabooz, Mictlantecuhtli, Q'uq'umatz. ;D

Ant and Dec. The most boring things I can think of. LOL class - unfortunately the names have to be female I tried going down the saints route but all the associated saints are male. All the ones I could be bothered to find, at any rate! Other than that, I'm devoid of inspiration. Boo.

Actually, I have entered Sophia and Mabel. For: Sophia Kingdom the wife of Marc Brunel and mother of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Mabel Stephenson, née Carr, mother of Robert Stephenson the miner and railway engineer.
I thought it was quite fitting.

As no one has picked up on my choice of names, I shall expand..... www.crossrail.co.uk/route/tunnelling/naming-competition - Tip: History, geography, architecture/ landmarks, transportation or names of famous Londoners might make good names for these giant machines that will be burrowing beneath the streets of London from Spring this year. Karen HarrisonFirst woman to be appointed as a train driver in the UK starting at Old Oak Common and moving to Paddington and then Marylebone. (Info. from Wikipedia, so I hope it's right) Hannah DaddsFirst female tube driver, born in Forest Gate. I can't find anything that says where Hannah worked out of as a driver - I presume Upminster? So we get two 'famous' females related to trains who have ties to east & west London. I've submitted this to Crossrail, let's see what happens.

Salmon and Sturgeon - they can then be leant to Glasgow if it decides to extend the subway.

From the Metro
Named on Tuesday,
Phyllis -- after Phyllis Pearsall creator of the A-Z
Ada -- after Ada Lovelace,an early computer scientist
Anyone get near?
Wednesday afternoon Phyllis had moved about 20' ahead of Ada. By yesterday (Thursday) afternoon she had passed under the footbridge (I presume overnight) and was sat on the starting slope down towards the tunnel portal.
Ada was still being completed.
Tunneling starts next week according to the Metro.

According to crossrailnews.co.uk/ a bridge lift is required before tunneling can start - which bridge would this be? TIA Simon

That URL requires a login to find out the rest of the link and I'm not paying £79 to find out what it says.
The bridge would be the only one between the assembly site and the portal. It is a footbridge (as I mentioned above) and has already had its abutments raised by about a metre or so. I presume this is to allow clearance for the overheads.
Two towers of red blocks with what I presume are hydraulic lifts are in place under each end of the deck.
They were still there today so I don't know if they are going to leave them for when Ada goes down the slippery slope.

I bet Phyllis hated her initials - prior to marriage - and Ada was the only legitimate child of Lord Byron. Rather odd choices in my opinion.
