Will the Olympia shuttle be working during the BETT fair? I only ask as I've been to this many a time and it's always heaving - both the exhibition itself and the Olympia train to and from ECT. If not, I wonder how big an exhibition has to be before it justifies a service.
I'm guessing that it won't run and LUL's spiel about major events was another phrase for 'no service'. We'll see!

Surely the "exhibition" service just causes a headache in terms of running a different service and rostering extra staff? Or do they just find volunteers for overtime and have less units on scheduled maintenance that day or something?

One of the Wimbledon trains if my mind isn't playing tricks on me, but wether it was an Edgware Road or a city train I don't know.

Yes, the exhibition service will operate - Weds-Fri. How does anyone find this out? These trains do not appear to be shown in the online Journey Planner at the moment.

I assume that LU either don't think people will plan their journeys, turn up at Earls Court, see there's a train to Olympia and catch it - or are being crafty and playing at the "closure by stealth" game (i.e. make a service unattractive, weirdly timed, badly advertised and unreliable and nobody will use it which gives you a great excuse to withdraw it without looking bad).

Or do they just find volunteers for overtime and have less units on scheduled maintenance that day or something? A special timetable notice exists which sets out which trains are to be used etc. The bulk of those used are indeed taken from the Wimbledon road. EDIT: Timing information was previously posted by Dstock7080 here.

I am quite prepared to be told this is a dumb suggestion - especially in view of the modern environment in comparison to when the lines west of Earl's Court were first opened. Build a short District Line link between Olympia and Hammersmith so that either westbound Ealing or Richmond trains serve Olympia rather than West Kensington and Baron's Court. That way Olympia gets permanent service not only providing interchange with London Overground services, but also providing interchange at West Brompton with the Wimbledon branch. The Olympia "loop" might operate only until say 21:00 and maybe not at all on ordinary Sundays, but surely better than an occasional unpredictable shuttle.

@ Charleyfarley
I don't think your suggestion is as dumb as some of the others l've seen on here.

It also says Kensington Olympia provides direct trains to Gatwick Airport and Northampton though I've seen worse. The London Mela 2010 website stated that the W3 bus serves Gunnersbury Park! ;D Just to confirm, it is the E3 and not the W3. Gunnersbury Park is in the W3 postcode.
