Me again,
I was watching the documentary on the Video 125 DEV of the Jubilee Line today and I noticed during an interview with a local MP on an A Stock that the purple seat covers were different to those now. The train was definatly one after the refurb. Were there seat covers changed since the refurb and if so when? Why on earth they would be replaced once again by another design of hideous purple is beyond me that there you go ;D

They were changed in 2003 to brighten up the trains. The old fabric is in use on the 1938 stock on the IoW. I think some of the cab seats still have it.

I miss the old design far better than 'random triangles' imo though 'random triangles' is still better than tubelines moquette! 1973ts also have it on their drivers seats strangely enough

I think the 'random triangles' is the best moquette - I do like the S stock one as well but the triangles are so colourful

I'd forgotten about the change of seat covers - are there any pics of the original post refurb covers?

I'd forgotten about the change of seat covers - are there any pics of the original post refurb covers? There are many, but they show up when you dont want them to and dissapear when your searching desperately for them!

Not moquette, but I like the Victoria line 67TS pattern on the formica panels, the Blue chevrons on a white/cream background. I may get that printed onto wallpaper.

Now the A Stock are getting scrapped - what happens to the seat covers? Do they get sent to Creatively Recycled Empire like the old ones were?

The original is better than now but still ugly. The A Stock seat covers presently are grotesque and let down the brilliant A Stock trains! How can we let the A Stocks leave us with such awful seat covers? They will now always be remembered as the trains with the hideous purple seat covers! I know the Met is purple but did the seat covers really need to be purple

In years to come, it's the pre-refurb interiors that I'll remember.

Any pictures? I'm afraid I'm too young to remember the A Stock pre-refurb

Is that one of the pre-refurb refurb trials?

Is that one of the pre-refurb refurb trials? I assume that's a joke . . .! (didn't notice a smiley!)

We mustn't forget the prototype refurbishment moquette - arguably the most ghastly of them all! I wish there was an image available online. Underground Movement by Paul Moss has some good pictures.

What was it like? Similar to the pre-triangle design, but I believe it also featured zig zags! I *think* I may have taken a picture of the photo, so will try and find it. Can't promise anything though.

That moquette doesn't stick in my mind although I definitely went on the trial refurb train.
Still prefer the original pre-refurb though - that's what a proper A stock looked like!

Okay, managed to find the picture! Wasn't as zig-zagy as I remember... Taken from an old edition of Modern Railways:

Cars 5132 (RIP) and 6132!
This was carried out in 1990 and featured continuous luggage racks and individual seats, but no end windows. The bulkheads were also opened up. I liked the seat idea but the cost was too great. We were lucky to get the end windows, the smaller draught screens helped with that I think.
See Paul Moss (2003) 'Underground Movement' for other pictures.

Ohh god, that moquette is quite bad! The continuous racks sounds like a good idea though.

Correct me if I wrong but on the final version of the Refurbishment didn't it revert back to bench seats as the individual seats proved unpopular during the trials.
