Does anyone on here know if the Floodgates that were installed in the tube tunnels are still usuable? I know that most, if not all, are still there physically, but what about mechanically? Any info greatly appreciated.

I was told when I did my road training on the District, that the flood gates are there, but are decommissioned. The rules relating to the associated signaling still applies though.

I believe that the fuses in the control boards are withdrawn.

That and the hydraulic systems haven't been used/maintained/tested for years.

Here in Stockholm, our floodgates are tested about once per year -usually, for some reason, around christmas.
Once upon a time, the crew of one of the tampers had a heart attack when they were coming around the bend into the Central station at a rather decent clip, only to suddenly have the "Floodgate Operated" signals start flashing in their face, much too close to the floodgates for them to be able to stop in time.
One nervous wreck later, it was found that apparently a rat had decided to make a late night snack out of a signalling cable, and the resulting short had operated the signals without the floodgates being moved.

The Floodgates at Canning Town on the Jubilee Line are in full working order.
They are for use if the River Lee floods.

Thanks Bakerloo Bill for the update. I was thinking, that, in light of events overseas, now would be the time to get the others working [if they aren't already] as a precautionary measure???
