I was visiting friends/family yesterday afternoon and when I got home and switched my computer on I found that the RMweb model railway website was unavailable. The same situation applies this morning. Knowing that several members of this forum also post on RMweb have they experienced the same problems or do they by any chance know the cause of the problem?

RMweb has had some performance issues over the last few weeks and as John has already said this was a planned and outage that has overrun.
I am sure Andy York and his team are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible.

On Andy's Twitter it says there was an issue during a planned upgrade and not to expect any news on the matter until this afternoon at the earliest.

It's a hard drive failure on the host server. Sounds pretty bad so I'm not expecting it to be back up anytime soon.

Still not restored. The problem sounds very serious, might well be down over Christmas.

Quick update. The site is unlikely to be up until after Christmas. Andy Y has just posted on Twitter explaining why and what has happened. I must admit that most of the technical stuff went over my head but I can understand that things went wrong big time.

The hard drive on the server threw a wobbly. Not helped by the time of year and the fact that the server is US based. More about it here >> twitter.com/#!/rmweb

I still can't get in but everybody else seems to be able to. I am not going in off the bookmark but using Google Chrome search.
