I read something on the service status about severe delays on all SSR lines (except the District; minor delays) due to a faulty train at Edgware Road. (also a signal failure at KX)
Few questions: 1. what happened? 2. what line? 3. obviously C69. 4. is this going to happen more often and/or is this being staged to make the S stock seem more reliable??

ugh; the difference between a c69/77/08... (unless they tried an s stock too early) I think 81stock is being playfully sarcastic Chris. I seem to recall the C77s were a second run of C69 stock to help with the Wimbleware branch when the old District stock was being withdrawn although I could be wrong!

The C77s were indeed built to augment the C stock fleet when it took over the "Wimbleware" route, but all C stock was common user and both types could be seen anywhere on the H&C,Wimbleware and Circle: indeed both types would be found in the same train. The C77s were built could be distinguished from the C69s by having silver roofs, where the C69s were black. 5585/6685 was unusual in having a C69 trailer matched with a C77 DM, added to the second run to replace the original 5585 which had been written off by terrorist activity. As far as I am aware the refurbishment programme removed any significant differences between the two types.
77 minus 69 equals 8, but the C08s were cars built, mainly new but with some recovered parts) to replace those damaged by more recent terrorist activity.

Still wandering aimlessly !
I am sure that, apart from ther cosmetic differences between the two types mentioned above, the C77s was the first LU stock to be built in metric (i.e. mm) rather feet and inches.

This topic has turned into a C69/77/08 discussion even more quickly, without answering the question. Uzair was giving the quite obvious answers (except the Circle part & the C stock - happy now?, part which is known to be unreliable apparently - read tubeprunes website which sometimes seems kinda outdated)

4. is this going to happen more often ?and/or is this being staged to make the S stock seem more reliable?? The C-Stock failures tend to happen from time to time

Reg; surely both the C69 and 77 stock were metric? Took a quick glance at Steam to Silver, which has the date of 1970 on it, and that says the C69s were the first metric stock? It goes on to attriubute the general differences between the A stock and C stock to this.
Chris: Have patience and chill out. Some questions on here have taken months to answer, but answered they are, eventually.

Train stalled on the approach to Edgware Road westbound. 2. The train was forming a Barking-Hammersmith service on the H&C 3. Lead car 5549 - so the lead unit was C69 stock. 4. Not sure what would lead you to think this was going to happen more often. These type of failures happen from time to time - some are more serious, some less. All trains - old and new - can fail in such a way that it takes a while to get them moving again.

That's interesting Ben. My memory must be playing up. You may well be right. I'll have a further 'dig' in my records and come back when I can.

Thanks MetControl. (though I swear I read somewhere on tubeprune's website that the C69/77/08 is the most unreliable stock, and the D78 the most reliable - although it's likely outdated)

C Stock trains are, as said by LU, in a poor condition. C Stock failures occur regularly, and there won't be much to prevent these from happening in the future. I'm sure that the lessons learnt from the negative aspects of the C Stock were taken into consideration and improved for the S7.
