It seems so, yes. I almost thought it was the refurb trial train, but then I saw the date, 1970.

First I thought they may have just been open doors but when you look, they appear to be in a maroon colour! Ahh if only Ruislip Depot is as interesting as what it used to be judging by pictures!

IIRC I did see an LT train with maroon doors circa 1969, either an A or C stock.

There was a trial done in Acton Works on a 1972 MkI car, prior to the arrival of the MkIIs. I was not aware of a trial on C Stock, so thanks for that photo.

I have enlarged the section of the photo showing the unit with the red doors. They look a much deeper claret red XF

Erm... The enlargement shows the doors are open, either that or the door glazing is also painted.

Don't think its the draught screens. The more you look the more it messes with your mind!
Strangly there is a picture in the 1938 stock book which seems to show a 1972 mark 2 stock train at Wembley Park (next to a 1938 stock train) without red doors but with the red roundel! What is this about??

If you look at the 38ts it appears as if its non-painted/aluminium silver in colour...
IMO its probably an image whereby light/dark and contrast settings have been tweaked... and have consequently made red appear a lighter shade...

Any reason why the 38 TS in the picture @ WEP was silver?

Is it silver? The older film emulsions were not very good at colours in the red spectrum. The earlier ones used to come out black, the later ones used to come out very pale, this results in the appearance as in the photograph.

With regard to the C stock picture at Ruislip, this was just before I started work there. I seem to remember some C stock delivered to Ruislip without doors at all with plywood or something similar filling the door spaces.
With regard to the other picture of the 38 stock and 72 stock even the 38 looks like it may be silver so who is to say what colour is what.
Were any 38's painted silver?

Only the trailers that ended up with the 1960ts. The flat fronted 35ts units became silver too.

This picture is badly affected by poor rendition. IIRC no, apart from the cars used in the 1960 Tube Stock formation.
