Was I seeing things on our new all- singing all -dancing rolling stock? Waiting for the 13.38 train to Baker St on Saturday at Pinner. The driver had some sort of sun shield thing pulled down with an opened newspaper sheet in it to protect against the rays. Surely there is something more sophisticated than that.
You know of course that Heath Robinson the master of fantasy humourous ridiculous machines was a Pinner resident.

The Earl's Court control room has paper on the windows to stop sunlight bleaching out the diagram. Though at around 1100 hours the Holborn and Mansion House areas can't be seen still!

Was it "The Sun"??
I'm sure that someone will learn from this and the S10 stock will be designed for a newspaper holder to be strategically placed. Even though the train will be 'driverless'
I expect Boris will have thought of a way of having driverless buses by 2014 too. Not that he ever travels by LU or by bus, as they are only for electors.

Cab windows that are not tinted so during hot weather the sun melts your face.

I can relate to that - The design that goes into these things, yet something like the sun blinding the driver and/or melting him/her is always overlooked.

And every dip in the track you hit, the thing goes back up!
