As mentioned already in other posts, the latest edition of the Tube map will be issued on 9th December. The main updates are: - A bright new cover
- Blackfriars imminent re-opening
- Step-Free access logos for Heathrow T123 & T4
- Step-Free access logos for Green Park
- Northern line interchange @ TCR
- District line Olympia service being partially withdrawn (shown by the familair green/white dotted line)
- Emirates Air-Line cable car route shown as under construction

Hang on a minute, the DLR and LO extension projects were deliberately NOT shown as "under construction" as this could allegedly cause "confusion" to intending passengers.
So, such work on existing conventional systems is not allowed to be depicted, yet forthcoming stand-alone vanity projects are OK?
Seems a cheap way of getting the sponsor's name up in lights ASAP methinks (indeed why the Emirites name bigger than the roundel on the logo?). Roll on the end of the deal so that such blatant advertising can be removed.

Maybe a thing for the future? the Samsung Circle line?!!

I noticed that the S stock floors are level with the platforms. Will the Met blobs go blue once the A stock are fully withdrawn?

That would look weird at some places. Also, there are still curved platforms and thus gaps between the train and the platform.

Interesting that on the Northern Line car maps there is no airline thingy but there is the following....
* Blackfriars is white step free sign (which is now out of date as its not open till Feb 2012) * Kensington is now weekends, public holidays and special events only dotted line * Green Park is blue step free for Victoria and white for Jubilee & Piccadilly looking like a repeat of Westminster *Shadwell is shown as non step free with DLR expected to be step free in Jan 2012 with one of the little crosses returning *No change at Farringdon *Tottenham court road is interchange again *Hackney Central and Dalston Junction are now next to each other *Huge gap between Hackney Wick and Stratford

Why would the Emirates Airline be on the Northern line maps? It's from Greenwich to Royal Victoria. The Northern doesn't run anything near that.

Tho one thing, this really isn't a Tube map any more. It's the TfL Metro map.

I noticed that the S stock floors are level with the platforms. Will the Met blobs go blue once the A stock are fully withdrawn? They aren't level at all the stations. Betwen Rayners Lane and Uxbridge, many platforms are lower, so it's still a step up to a Metropolitan S-stock and down to a Piccadilly. Incidentally, I read somewhere that the EVO trains will have an even lower floor, if they ever see the light of day.

Its a tough call in the end. Whats the justification for showing the extremes of the met on the map when, say, the core section of Thameslink at... roughly 10 (or 20 if you want to be realistic... *-/ ) times the frequency isnt?
Unless there is an amazingly important difference to the casual passenger why should a tube line be thought of as any different to a TfL managed line, to an entirely seperate metro line?
I'd go one step further, and have a 'London Connexions' style map showing all services greater than 5tph along with TfL owned lines and major orbital bus lines joining the outermost stations in zone 5/6. The later would be a tough call and open to interpretation, but an obvious example would be a theoretical service between High Barnet and Cockfosters, or Edgware and MHE.
I still think theres a place though for a 'tube line only map', drawn to the best coherant principals and aesthetics, as art/prestige.

I won't be surprised if the pecked lines return due to the Olympia reductions.
And what about the South London Line project?

Well see now they're putting things under construction on the map 6 months before opening the South London Line will be added just in time for the Olympics.
(not really nobody's paying to get their name on the map when it comes to Peckham)

It has still not appeared on the internet. It's late... (although the tube map isn't my greatest concern of delays at TfL)

It's up now.
The way they call the cable car station Emirates xxx implies that UAE owns parts of London. It's very confusing.
Wait, what am I saying? That's completely accurate!

Ok, North Greenwich looks weird and confusing. It looks like it's entirely in fare zone 3, although it's 2 and 3. No further changes, I think.

Oh, that's ridiculously unclear. To my eyes, it's not that obvious to the untrained/non-geeky eye that DLR stations from Cutty Sark south are dual-zone; the situation at North Greenwich is so much worse as to be pretty farcical.
