As I wouldn't dream of bumping a thread that had it's last entry over two years ago (not that the admin team would let me ) I'll post this as a new one. To refresh the memory, the discussion previously was about the Chesham branch and how the stock, specifically the MET bogie stock that was used in push-pull form for the last twenty years or so of steam working, was diagrammed and how the weekly changeover between the two sets used occured. Much was made of the revelation that the bogie stock was used in passenger service between Baker Street and Chesham northbound and to (from memory) Wembley park on the southbound. The motive power was reportedly a MET Electric Loco south of Rickmansworth in the same manner as the rest of the MET services in those days. I commented how it would be lovely to have a picture of a MET Electric on the working other than at a depot which seemed to be the only ones available............. You wait for two years and then two turn up in a week! I won a picture on ebay that shows the southbound working in the open countryside with a MET Electric Loco while a website linked to the Bluebell Railway has another of the southbound service arriving at Wembley Park. I should be able to show both at the Christmas meet! If I was clever I'd post them here but I'd probably be infringing copyright.

Excellent stuff, Glyn. The loco change northbound was interesting. With normal Dreadnought coaches, the steam loco was obviously attached to the north end of the train - goes without saying However, for the Chesham shuttle, because it was a push-pull operation, the steam loco was attached to the south end of the train on the northbound working. Apart from a very dark and steamy pic I have of the loco on the south end of the train in the platform at Rickmansworth, has anyone ever photographed it between there and Chalfont, before it went back across onto the single line?

I would have linked the Bluebells pic but the truth is I'm not clever enough. I really must get my 8-year-old to show me how to use this thing properly!
Reganorak, is the picture at Rickmansworth in the Northbound or Southbound platform?
Thanks for the info.

It is in the northbound platform, with the loco at the rear (steaming and wheezing!) about to push the 3 coaches up towards Chalfont.
