Judging by the green paint on the solebar and treadplates im guessing this unit has just been cleaned from quite a major graffiti attack. With it, the numbers on the trailers seem to have been cleaned off with it (since their only transfers).
With the withdrawal imminent over the coming months/year will they bother applying a new transfer?

I would think so. 5098 will hopefully be one of the last to go as it is a double ender and a de-icer! Neasden do have spare numbers as long as someone hasn't sold them all

There are a few 1973 stocks running around with incorrect axle position transfers on the sole bar. When we were working on an incorrectly labelled train we knew they were wrong but never actually got round to correcting the transfer. Outside car numbers are slightly different as quick identification should always be available for safety purposes.

Crumbs! I have travelled fairly regularly on A60's since they were introduced and spent 19 years travelling to work, and working on them occasionally, and never noticed.
