Could have sworn on here maybe a year or so ago there was talk of work being done to restore these into perminant future use.
Yet now it seems post resignalling they will be removed all together. Is this the case, and if so, why? Would have thought extra stabling anywhere would be of benefit!
Thanks!

Maybe not related but the old hydraulic buffers at the end of Platform 7 appear to have been removed. The area was taped off last week when I was through. It may have happened a while ago and I just hadn't noticed though.

The hydraulic arrestors in pfms7 & 9 were removed over the weekend of 10/11 September. Shame! I hope the LTM has one....the only ones left are Putney Br, ?Mansion Hse? and the pile of them on the old Osterley platform then??

Nearly all old types of buffer have been replaced by the modern S stock friendly type; perhaps the oppertunity was taken to just update stuff?

Yes the whole SSL group of buffers will be replaced by S stock train arrestors, one of the benefits of a generic train!

The Hydraulic buffer is still in situ on platform 8 for the time being.
As for the sidings - yes, they will be removed at some stage.

I have to say the S Stock buffer stops don't look like they'd provide much protection in the event of a crash!

The ones currently installed are temporary. The real things come later!

Even the ones on the Met? No, those are the 'real ones'. Ealing sidings were notorious for trains being repainted for free so to speak!

Wonder why theu couldnt construct an aluminum sheath over the sidings to match train width? If on stilts it would preservce access to underframe equipment. Could even be designed to be modular for future use at other vunerable locations.
