I drove the c stock on the district from the first year they came over for nearly 20 years and apart from a few electrical problems and cab equipment being in the wrong place after OPO first came in found them a very reliable train to operate. I could use the westinghouse brake non stop for a 4 hour second half of a duty and stop on the car mark every time. A good all round people mover certainly.

Very interesting article. Just out of curiosity if there are S Stocks at Neasden that LU are not using, why were they delivered if LU knew about the problems or why aren't they being used? I know there are problems with the S Stock but it seems pointless that there are S Stocks just sitting in Neasden that are not being used.

I think it was a case of we'll show the faith a while longer. The S stock were ready and they could be tested in London and on the Met and get looked after my Bomb'r staff while at Neadsen.

I know there are problems with the S Stock but it seems pointless that there are S Stocks just sitting in Neasden that are not being used. The article mentions these units have not been 'accepted by LU'. All 22 production S8s known to have been delivered to Neasden have entered service (one of them was delivered since the article was written), and I would have thought that a unit can only enter service once it's been accepted. However, two production trains (21045 and 21059) were delivered as 'S8-1's for testing. I could be wrong, but as these will probably go back to Derby to be formed as 8-car, I think it's unlikely these would have been accepted. Could these have been included in the 11 'not accepted' units mentioned in the article?

Reported elsewhere that there is to be another delivery 7X09 Old Dalby-Amersham on Wednesday/Thursday using 20142/227 and 20901/905 rather than the DRS hired-in 20/3s.
