Hi all, am new here so be gentle! I was out with the camera last Sunday and came across this one feeling a bit sorry for itself in Acton Depot www.tonysrailphotos.fotopic.net/p48622532.htmlnow, i have been told it is Victoria Line 67ts and it looks like it has been there a while, can anyone provide more details? Also, if this is in the wrong place on here can a mod move it for me please? Finally, I would also be intrerested to know more about the other units in Acton Depot, the Northern 72ts and the Central Line 62ts, so anyone able to contact me off group with information and plans for them etc... I would be most interested!

Looks like a 72TS possibly 3523 which had the red white & blue livery when in service on the Northern.Maybe they're hanging on to it for the Bakerloo service enhancements when it goes back to Watford and converting it to a 72TS Mk2.

Yup that is definately a 72 mk1 stock train. There is no calling-on light on the front-the give away. It may be unit 3202-4202-4203-3203?

I'm wrong! Towerman is right-that is a 3 car unit with a UNDM at the other end. There is a mechanical coupler on the DM! Must be 3523-4523-3423 which is Bakerloo spare, apparently!

Related to this is that the 1967ts started to receive heavy overhauls at Acton Works about a year ago - after many years they are using Acton Works again for the purpose it was built!

Oh well I had never thought it could be Northern Line stock! I remember a unit running around with blue doors, but not one in full livery. If this is 3523 and it was to make a comeback it would be one heck of a job wouldn't it?

Is it the unit that was stored at London Road Depot, or is it a different one? Surely this unit www.tonysrailphotos.fotopic.net/p48622583.html is definitely not going to be used on the Bakerloo extension? I imagine the scrapman cometh?

3 units of the 72 mk1 stock recieved a full refurb in corporate livery. 2 1/2 trains ended up becoming part of the Bakerloo fleet. I expect this unit to make a full comeback, especially the UNDM which will be very useful if the Watford extension is completed. The blue doors and the blue top stripe ran around to the end. The blue doors set was last in Sth Harrow (jail) sidings!

I travelled on that re-furb and if I remember rightly it was done up inside but I'd love to see the interior now p.s. it will either be used as spares or just refurbed again providing those chavs haven' burnt the motors out

which chavs? Acton Depot chavs?? I would love to see the interior of all the stock there, there is a coach from original vectis stock, there is the silver 72ts, the 62ts Sandite (I think its Sandite) and of course 3523, unfortunately the chances are slim in the extreme!!

I believe there is a 72 stock at Acton Works that is used for training staff for the Emergency Response Unit. Maybe this is it?

I think only the UNDM 3423 will be used. The rest of the stock will be from Vic line 67/72 stock. The 67 trailers only need a slight change of colour inside!

www.tonysrailphotos.fotopic.net/p48622624.htmlOff-topic (apologies - mods please move if there's somewhere more appropriate / it's possible) but I think the stock you can't identify in this picture - from the same set, also at Acton - must be from the standard stock that used to run on the Isle of Wight, and was therefore in Network South East livery (and evidently still is!). I know there used to be numerous bits of ex-IoW standard stock at Acton - are they all still there? Does anyone know what's likely to happen to them, eg is there any prospect of a train being restored to full running condition for railtours?

Yes, there are a few cars of standard stock in the Acton works. I would love it if a working 4 car or even 7 (but don't hold your breath) unit could be put together. There are 4 cars in the depot being restored, but there are a few cars outside. They are in a very poor condition, the salty air on the IoW took its toll! I'll find out the numbers for you...

There are several cars at the Acton works. All in poor condition! These are DMs 3209, 3370*, 3690, 3701, 3706 and trailers 7061, 7063, 7071, 7281**.
Most of these cars are from the 31/34 vintage. In theory 3 cars could be used to add to the Standard stock train in the Depot and make a 7 car train: DM-T-T-DM+CT-T-DM
3327 - 7296 - 7071 - 3693 + 5279 - 7281 - 3370
Of course it would take a Lotto win to do it! Wishful thinking eh?
*1927 stock **1923 stock

I quite agree that this thread doesn't belong on the Victoria line board - but I was unsure as to whether the Bakerloo or Northern boards were any better...........'Trains Technical' seems like a good compromise, so I've moved it here...........

My understanding of the withdrawn units is as follows...
The 59ts Heritage liveried train had a coach preserved at Morden Depot, the rest going to Mangapps Farm. A carriage in someone's back garden of a silver liveried DM and that was about it?!
2 trains of Mk 1 72ts at at Acton, a unit at Lillie Bridge (now the measurement train?) a unit at London Road and there was some at Hainault which has now all been scrapped. Oh, and of course the one down the Aldwych branch!
I seem to remember there is a Sandite 62ts (presumably the one I photographed at Acton) and also a tractor unit of 62ts which is/was at Ruislip. Don't think any other 62ts is about, other than the Cravens group stock at Hainault somewhere.
The only other stock sitting idle is a short train of 83ts which is well and truly b******d at South Harrow sidings, the units dumped at Uxbridge all being removed. Presumably the units at Cockfosters also having been scrapped?
Can anyone add/correct this? I now have a 10x optical zoom camera and am thinking that if there is any stock of yesteryear around I might have to go and photograph it!!
Thanks for moving the thread, I was originally told somewhere else that it was a Victoria Line stock!

Saw that there was still a train of 83 stock at Sth Harrow a couple of months ago. Two of the 59 (Mars bar) DM went to the Alderney Railway and became driving trailers (after having their running gear removed). There are two tractor units of 59/62 stock?

I thought they all got removed to Booths for scrapping. Are the remaining ones viewable from anywhere?

I thought they all got removed to Booths for scrapping. Are the remaining ones viewable from anywhere? The unit at Hainault is 3511, which is a 3-car unit and has been heavily robbed for spares. All of the 4-car units which were once at Hainault were removed to Booths long ago. As for the painted unit at Acton, this is 3523, and is NOT refurbished, instead simply being one of the three trains which were painted in trial liveries. Of the three MkI trains refurbished for the Northern Line, most of these cars are now in service on the Bakerloo Line, with the exceptions of 3224/4224, which were scrapped following a collision whilst they were on the Northern Line. This unit was made good with the MkII cars surviving from the first Piccadilly Circus derailment.

Also one of the other experimental livery cars replaced 3116 on the Victoria Line which,in turn replaced 3016 damaged in a collision with the stops in Northumberland Pk Depot.BTW you can just see the 72TS cars at Hainault if you're on a train travelling from Grange Hill to Hainault, they're round the back on what used to be Drd.

Why keep the 72ts at hainault though? I cant think of any other stock there it could supply spares to. Shame its round the back i quite wanted to get some photos! Any dumped stock anywhere else? The cockfosters units were rusted to the track at one point! Are uxbridge sidings empty? Is there anything at northfields? I remember photographing a 83ts there in 02, i presume its gone now?

Uxbridge is needed to stable A stock and one 73ts now so I believe the 83ts has gone!

So, we have confirmed 83ts still at South Harrow, anyone able to advise where there are other units stored on the network?
