What are terminating Piccadilly Line trains doing then? Running empty from Sth Harrow? That's a pain if you need to get off at Rayners!

Madness, Absolute non-joined up thinking madness. What about those who want to board at R.L. westbound platform? Should they take the next e/b Met and change at W Harrow?? Proof if ever it was needed that the Pax come last when an apparatchik has what he thinks is a good idea. Whoever arranged for trains to run non-stop through the station is not fit for purpose in my opinion. L.T, & LUL used to be full of people like this years ago, but l thought times had moved on. I suppose the whole thing has now been taken over by the Health & Safety Stazi

For a short time the Uxbridge and Ruislip services were stopping but the Rayners terminators were still detraining at South Harrow! What a pain for some. The platform was for alighting passengers only during this time...

Even worse!
Pure Sesame Street.
I would fire whoever "arranged" ('organised' is not the appropriate word), for this to happen
This is mind numbing concrete thinking.

Why was the platform closed? Given the previous comments I'm guessing there is either no reason to so or the reason is not visually apparent.

Part of the platform surface top layer has been removed meaning there's a step between this and the nosing stones. I'm going through there in a short while so I'll give an update.

It appears that craters started appearing on the platform and it was closed for emergency re- serficing work. Uxbridge trains non stopped while rayners lane picc lines tipped out at south harrow and ran empty to rayners sdgs.

So there is nobody to let Pax getting off Uxb trains know, (madness in itself), terminators de-trained a station earlier, yet although there could be signage and somebody supervising the platform, nobody is allowed to board at all!!
There should be an enquiry into this.
Without doubt, if what I have read is accurate and I were in L.U. management, somebody would be looking for a new job tomorrow.

Update as promised :-) Temporary tarmac ramps have been put in to counter the step up from the platform to the nosing stones and around the lamp posts. Rayners Lane trains are still detraining at Sth Harrow and the rest are stopping as normal AFAIK. I'm guessing it's still only for alighting or they don't want people standing there?

So there is nobody to let Pax getting off Uxb trains know, The Train operator does this I suppose!? At least people can use it now! It was fine yesterday but obviously not for today... When you think on the continent some stations don't even have platforms! Lol

castlebar, maybe think about joining another forum? I hear the Evening Standard has a good one. Coming in from what has been a trying shift to see people like you making statements and accusations about something of which you have little or no idea is, to put it politely, very tedious and annoying indeed.
The platform was closed due to the aforementioned holes appearing. The platform was closed as a safety measure. Adequate alternative arrangements were available - albeit a little inconvenient, but better than closing the entire station. If we had stopped all trains, then that would be unsafe, and would mean we really didn't care about our customers.
Once the platform re-opened, the Rayners Lane reversers continued to be detrained at South Harrow. The reasoning behind this is that it lessened the overall impact of passengers alighting onto the platform. A reverser sees all passengers alighting, whereas through trains see only a handful. That's joined-up thinking in relation to the safety of all customers.

On my way home tonight I noted works are progressing on the platform surface and some sort of mastic asphalt has been laid, ready for a wearing course to go on top.
