I meant to ask a couple of days ago, but will you have your camera with you? I suppose it's a bit like asking if the Pope is Catholic..... ;D ;D

Does anyone know what the likelihood is of the 1972 Mk1 stock being present at platform level during the tour?

Very likely.. why would you move it anyway? Adds to the feeling...

The Aldwych 72 tube Stock was at Northfields in the summer but I believe it is back at Aldwych now.
I walked the track from Holborn to Aldwych years ago just before it closed and the station was pretty eerie then.

I've got a crossover non-DSLR but it looks like one. I'll be really upset if they confiscate it; my visit is tomorrow.

Apparently LU requested this very specific ban. Make of that what you will.

I've had a chat and it sounds like it is less a ban on DSLRs and more a ban on "big cameras with big flashes"
I'm taking my normal DSLR and my flatmate's palm sized unit just in case and will report back this evening on the outcome.

OK - the ban is on DSLR explicitly - and quite strict as well. One chap had his confiscated when seen using it at the platform level.
Pocket cameras and cameraphones are allowed.
My flatmate lent me a camera that just about qualified as a pocket camera (I think it is a small dslr, but *shush*).

What does a DSLR do what a rubbishy lightweight pocket camera & cameraphone can do? (Except making nicer, higher quality, more stable pictures)...
they'd might as well ban the sony handycam, as terrorists seem to like those...

Someone had their DSLR confiscated? I hope he kicked up a fuss because by confiscating his Property they acted illegally.

I wonder how they would deal with the Lumix/Olympus cameras that look like DSLRs but don't have a mirror using the micro four thirds tech...

Sounds like they don't want anyone but the museum taking photos and then selling them on, treating LU's station as their own cash cow. I wonder how they'd react to a film SLR?

I think you're got the point but missed it at the same time! It's nothing to do with terrorism, it's for protection of commercial interest - because DSLR cameras can produce much better pictures they're not being allowed on this general visit.

Don't think necessarily that it's unfair, more likely capitalism in action! I foresee that there will be an opportunity in the future to visit with a DSLR, but at a much higher entry charge...

This policy is very strange as some modern compact cameras can produce very fine pictures. And how they can tell the difference between a DSLR and a bridge camera which looks similar? Sadly it won't affect me as I left it too late to book and all tickets are now sold.

I took my bridge camera and had it confiscated during the bag search. Sad, but I got some lovely photos on my iPhone so it's all good.
I'm sick of having a bridge camera; it gets treated as a DSLR at gigs etc, despite not actually being an SLR at all.

Matt, When they confiscated your camera did they have somewhere secure to put when you where down on the platform? I'm going tomorrow and since I will be in London all day I will have my DSLR with me anyway but I plan to take a compact camera for the station visit. I would like to be sure that the DSLR is safe if I have to leave it up top.

I emailed the ltm for clarification on this as I have a MFT camera which looks like an SLR but isn't as it has no mirror. I kindly received a prompt reply which explains it simply, cameras with interchangeable lenses are not allowed. So there you have it! Film or digital doesn't matter either...

Yes, although not accessible as the ERU have done all sorts of things to it.
Anything valuable (including out of spec cameras) can be left in the ticket office with the duty manager.

The whole no SLR camera lark is going to make the LTM look pretty stupid, to be honest. Such a lame ruling (really, is anyone going to make their millions from selling Aldwych pics?) should have been made clear at the time of booking rather than including this info with the tickets. Seriously not impressed.
