LOL @ the Electrostar (right?) passing at full speed and thus hiding the steam train That's brilliant! Made me howl, cheers for posting!!! The train is a SWT class 159 Sprinter unit, used on Waterloo - Exeter/Salisbury runs (mainly).

It's funny because the 159 is much more interesting than Tornado anyway lol.

It's a known risk and has happened to me a few times.
Photos on the closer platform are more reliable (obviously!) but don't look as good as from a distance. I usually try to find a higher vantage point from a pedestrian walkway... and hope.

LOL @ the Electrostar (right?) passing at full speed LOL not noticing the dieselly noises the "ELECTROstar" was making - or that no Electrostar has ever worn SWT colours. It's funny because the 159 is much more interesting than Tornado anyway lol. Yeah - nasty new-fangled 21st century external combustion thing.

Of course in all the years I have been filming trains this has never happened to me........... Of course I could just be lying!
Truly brilliant! The use of a certain expletive really sums it up! There are some words that leave a situation needing no explanation!
My apologies for not noticing this one earlier.

@everyone making fun of me: whatever, I'm not really interested in mainline trains anyway (unless they're LU stock)

Ha ha ha!! That is sod's law. The worst thing the DMU had 3 units coupled together so they had no chance!!

Because you don't see a steam powered lawn-mower? Metman; yes thats just compound bad luck! Can't recall seeing such a long 159 before... Mind you, what do they say... you wait ages to see one then three turn up at once Its good to see though that everyone took it in good humour!
