Lots of folk have posted that a certain unit or car is their favourite. They are only trains, folks! Very good ones over the years... That said, I admit I'll be a little sorry when 5060/61 goes. It was the first train I did any work on as a new LT engineer, sorting out some test brake equipment control - now long since removed. Also by chance used the same unit later to trial 96TS collector shoegear.
So what odd reasons do you have for a favourite?

5120/21. Seems like every time we returned from meeting my "Nana" at Kings Cross when she came down from Grantham to visit us, that was one of the units in the 8-car train we boarded at Baker St to take us back to Middlesex. 5104/05. IIRC the "Please keep clear of the doors" signs on each exterior door were pink instead of the normal black.

5056! It was the first A stock I made a model of. The numbers were on the transfer sheets and as it was a double ender and I could only fit 4 car trains it seemed a good choice. Then I got to travel on her, and found it was one of the better units. We had many happy journeys together and she was the last unit that I took on the ELL on the last day. I also travelled on her at Shoreditch's fairwell!
I'll be very upset when 5056 goes unless it is preserved. It would make an excellent choice of unit as it is double ended but without all the complex de-icing equipment to maintain, plug plug. I just hope she gets to 50!

5054, just because it was unique in having ear piercing door beeps (not a good thing I suppose) but the main reason was that the motor closest to the cab in car 5054 was extremely loud. 5130 is also another favourite, due to it seeming to be in great condition. 5160 is my third favourite due to it having a hard to describe higher pitched whine like the 67ts and sometimes 73ts have, over the top of the normal motor sounds + its in good condition. All the rest are still excellent

I also want to add 5230/1 to my list, as every time I rode in that unit it seemed to smell like spearmint gum inside.

For me, it's definitely 5000. I saw it passing Alperton from the school playground one afternoon in February 1961 on its way to Neasden. Looked superb with its shiny black roof, and at that stage, the aluminium 'bodysides' hadn't been sanded down (if that's the right term for it). Happy days (the A Stock, not the school!!).
Perhaps it would be good if the 'first' (5000) and 'last' (5231) could survive as long as possible, but I doubt it .....

5130, purely because it was my student number at one point. However, my current one is shared with a 72 MKII (I think (3520))

Sorry but 3520 was the 'D' end driving motor from a 1972 mk1 set and being a 3 car unit was cut up 1999-2002!

I'm not really a fan of A stock, however, if I had to pick a unit, it would have to be 5005, because I have a thing for palindromic numbers. This means 5115 and 5225 would also be on the list.
