Hey, Im currently trying to find information out on the various types of rolling stock the network has used since its openning. Ive managed to find a pdf LU made in april 2003 with current stock but Im now looking for simlar information on older stocks. My intrest is purely for myself tho I would share it over net with anyone else that wanted it. Im working more on the Tube lines at the moment but not had alot of luck find details of my fave stock (Standard, 38, 59) but have some great stuff on the current stock. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?
Many thanks Mack.

If they're still available, try Steam to silver(SSL stock) and Tube trains under London both by J Graeme Bruce. They go from steam days on the Met & District up to the introduction of C stock. The other goes from C&SLR to 67TS.

prjb is the chappie to contact, but, if you're not staff he may not be forthcoming as some of the stuff shouldn't be in the public domain.

The museum is rather good at hoarding documents (They have a pretty much complete collection of working timetables for instance.), and will almost certainly have vast piles of stuff related to anything which isn't running now, and probably plenty on what still is. You can arrange to visit the library (where I think they can also move anything you're interested in to) here. You'll find more books about LU than you thought possible there too. Alternatively you're welcome to attack the contents of the depot with a tape measure, although it won't be open to the public again until October. The quickest way of all to get at what you want is to volunteer your time for whatever project the curators have going on at the Depot (Weekdays only unfortunately). PM me for details of who to contact. Then you can search the museum's database to find what you're looking for and get someone to show you where it is.

The museum is the only one good at hoarding docuements! Many thanks guys! I got a chance to go the Acton (even made work re arrange the rota so I could!) this year for the first time and its part of where this project has come from. Only found out really since then what a Standard stock was. Tho only promblem is I cant decided whetherthe 38 or the 59 TS is better! But thats another topic! I think problem Ive got with the S stock is Im wanting info that annit around yet! Intending on going through most of the site searching (now do I have too much time on my hands or am I dedicated?).
