Please don't bid against each other, nobody gains by doing that. This subject intrigues me and there must be a solution. It is clear that their are many long term LT staff, as well as enthusiasts, who want one of these; we also know that hundreds have been removed from trains before scrapping. Surely someone is in a position to arrange the supply to meet the demand - LTM has already been mentioned as a channel. In any industry mementos are important for staff morale, particularly with long term people and you certainly don't want them to be stuffed by Ebay opportunists.

If you read the small print, it has been off an A stock for a long time, and by the look of the oxidation been in a fairly damp location.
I saw some shelves being delivered to Acton for sale.......

its nearly £100 and there's still a week left of bidding, there certainly looks to be a demand for a stock memorabilia it wasn't hard to see it going for at least that amount.

I am inclined to bid for every one that comes up and fit one on every S-stock train I use. Then I'll have somewhere to put my Metro when I've finished reading it.

There have only been two bidders and it is clear that they both seriously want it. I just hope they are not members of this forum.

If you want a bargain, don't bid till the end so you don't get in a price war..

Yeah, I heard the same from the LT Museum stand people at the Brooklands/Cobham Bus Rally. At least, that was the response when I bought a Bardic Lamp (why???) and cheekily asked if it came with a free luggage rack!

There was one before the refurb, but I think that may have been just a short one

I don't think so. I believe all the racks were retained and refurbed when it was realised that it would be too expensive to create continuous racks like on car 5132.

I was watching the Met/District DEV from 1989. In a shot of the East London line, you can clearly see there is a rack above the airline seat mounted to the cab wall

After extensive research involving 5115 on this evenings trip home I can confirm there are three lengths of rack, small, medium and large. Small - 15 rows of slots, medium - 27 rows of slots and large - 40 rows of slots. Mediums are only found adjacent to cabs, 2 in each motor car.

they just raise the height enough to stop kings dropping off in transit... Do royalty often travel on the Met? And why do they have problems staying awake? ;D
