As train crew in the middle 60s, about the time program machines were introduced at Camden Town Euston reverser’s were a nightmare. In those days more or less always in the NB (Island) platform. Never the sidings. To get the back of the train in past the SB outlet stick the driver had to cut out the front pair of doors and pull right up so that the second pair were just by the railings at the bottom of the stairs. By the time the guard arrived, no stepping back that I can recall, his gangway would be full of suitcases and people asking if “this train goes to Edinburgh?” type of questions. 4 ½ minutes turn round time and a DI's inquisition at Tooting if you were late away. Morden to Euston City was 39 minutes and you could do Morden, Euston, Tooting, Euston, Morden in half a shift and was usually dark when you got off of the train so didn’t even see daylight. To add insult to injury there was nowhere to get a cup of tea.
Oh to be a Tunnel Tiger again. Those were the days.

PMs came into service at Camden & Euston 1958 someone will provide the exact date. When I was a Motorman at Euston we had to marshal the stock including the Battery locos at Highgate for the Drayton Park move, we also moved the sleet locos about but as we never did nights never had to spray fluid. We had one turn which picked up Euston CX NB went to Golders back to Kennington round the loop and up to Archway then to Morden not very good especially in the summer. We always made tea at Kennington SB using the SM's kettle I would then stop short at the next station and leave the guard his tea on the platform.
