Hi all,
I am in London on Saturday and thought with a few spare hours in the morning i would try and see some of the LUL battery locos and 'Engineering' stock at West Ruislip. Other than passing on the Central Line (Met line is closed!) i was wondering if there are any other public viewpoints anyone could recommend?
I see that there are fields to the South of the depot, which look a good starting point, but think one of the fields is a school so unlikely to be open to a random person walking in!
Any help appreciated!
Thanks.

Yes, one of them is the playing field of Ruislip Gardens Primary school, and the other one is in the 'Ickenham Marshes' which have 12 foot deep bramble infront of the fence. So I think your chances may be slim.

I think the only real way would be from a Central line train tbh.

I think the only real way would be from a Central line train tbh. Or possibly from a Chiltern train running parallel to the Central or a "Metrodilly" as it passes Ruislip siding.

As above, Piccadilly are running the enhanced service to Uxbridge. Furthermore, with the works on the District and Circle you have a good chance of seeing ballast trains on the Rayners Branch.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like viewing from the South side where they're stabled is out then! Hadn't thought about the Piccadilly running over that section at Ruislip too!
Regarding the works on the Circle/District around Paddington, what route would the ballast trains take to get there - Met line to Baker Street and reverse?
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help guys. In the end i only had time for a quick pass on the Central then back on Chiltern. Managed to see Schoma's 5 and 7 (which i'd already seen!), but the battery locos were all too far from the running lines and the numbers on them are smaller so no luck. Did note the weedkiller L150 and L151 though.

I see there is a four car 67 stock at the depot. Any reason why it's there and what they are going to do with it?

That will be 3067, it will be used by BCV to train cleaning staff.

How long would it be there training the staff or is it there for a long while?
