AIUI, 9xTS all have air operated HSCBs. There have been instances when trains standing for long periods without juice haven't been able to restart when juice was restored because the air has leaked away and the HSCBs wouldn't close. On at least one occasion, a man with a foot pump had to go to a train to "pump it up".
Recently, I was told that 96TS has a "secure air reservoir" which the driver has to isolate if the juice goes off. Is this a mod? Do all 9x stocks have this now? Comments and war stories welcome.

It's always been the case with 96TS that they have to be "powered down" when traction current is off ,otherwise the air will leak off and the train will have to be pumped up.Quite frankly it's a PIA esp when there's possessions at SMD,progress?Do me a favour.

ISTR you complaining about prjb's implication that the 2009TS and S stocks will suffer from a similar design flaw quirk.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

As tubeprune is already aware, 09ts and 'S' will not suffer from this problem.

Yes, I knew about the new stocks but I was wondering about the existing. Does this mean someone has to go round all the trains in SMD which are off juice and isolate the reservoirs?

That's correct,an Alstom technician has to do the honours, preferably before the current goes off.
