When looking at early photos of the West Ruislip extension, the station canopies and signs at platform level were concrete structures. At some time, these were replaced by steel structures, the canopies being of a similar shape to the concrete ones.
Do ppl know when this was carried out and why, bearing in mind that the extension was only built in the 1940s?

The general reason was concrete cancer, it's mentioned in a previous thread I think. I'll have a look...
