The public consultation for the Croxley Rail Link scheme ends on 18 August. If you would like to lend your support (or indeed register your opposition) to the scheme then please follow the link and complete the survey. www.croxleyraillink.com/latest-news/croxley-rail-link-consultation-period-ends-18th-august.aspxHCC and the other scheme partners will submit the 'Best and Final Funding Bid' in September 2011 as part of the next stage in the funding process. Maybe this link is finally on the way to being built... THC

I received the update below on this project today- "As you may be aware Croxley Rail Link is the proposed diversion of the Watford branch of the Metropolitan line to Watford Junction via the former Croxley Green branch line. The scheme involves the construction of a new viaduct and two new stations, at Ascot Road & Vicarage Road. The link will also connect with Watford High Street station. As part of the proposals the existing Watford Metropolitan line terminus station will close to passenger services. We are close to finalising our designs for the Croxley Rail Link scheme. Six new fact sheets will be available to download from 14th November 2011 via our website www.croxleyraillink.com. The contain information on • Consultation Feedback • Response to Key Issues • Environmental Assessment • Funding Update • Next Steps • Scheme Plan If you would like to talk to a member of the project team about the specific proposals we are holding a series of drop in sessions. This week, Herts County Council voted to approve the submitted plan and formally submit the funding bid, the so-called Best And Final Bid. Won't be long now until the final announcement about funding. It's due "before the end of December".

I just spoken with Leanne from the Croxley Link project and they are very upbeat about this.
Lets hope it does get approved this time.

I'm not quite so worried about the CRL now, given the change of heart regarding the selling off of the current Met sidings and station - virtually an impossibility since the Grade II listing. The irreversible loss of that terminus & line has receded so the possibility of service alterations to keep the Met in use is within the realm of possible.
Also, I've seen somewhere that they plan to reuse some of the Met station infrastructure at the new stations, e.g. the gateline. Now IIRC the Met uses pneumatic gates, but the installation of a compressor room at the new stations is above and beyond what is required, given that the new gatelines I've seen recently have all been electric. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

its odd that the met line was not extended into the town centre in the first place, the old croxley green br station is just as debatable looking no more then planks and scaffolding.remembering last time the rails were severed and the circumstances of closure were controversial. www.abandonedstations.org.uk/Croxley_Green_line_1.html
