Right, pictures have been taken. There are 12 in this set. I'll post them in the thread if anyone wants.

Hmm, it seems like they're using the London Bridge method again. Also, the CGI mock-up of the new station looks quite futuristic.

^^Maybe i'm wrong but it appears that the new tunnels won't be connected to Monument via an escalator? Doesn't this mean that passengers changing from the Circle/District to the Central will have to use the far more cramped DLR concourse?

Southbound Northern will be the new concourse as shown, and I don't think that anyone would even consider for a second closing the escalators to Monument. I think they forgot to show that the Circle & District exists.

Has any word been mentioned on what will become of the DLR platforms when (if) they are resited?

I'd like to see the Bank Station to become one station on a loop, this would speed up exit and boarding... maybe have 2 platforms either side of a single track with entry one side, exit the other (exactly like Tower Gateway is)

I went their today, and was told by the security that photography was not allowed so well done Alfie.
The main point of the current consultation is about whether to acquire only 10 King William Street or the whole block. The latter would obviously be more expensive but would allow a larger entrance building (possibly including escalators) and a larger (and therefore easier) worksite. Spoil wasn't mentioned explicitly this time, but I got the impression that building a small building (option 1) on the larger site that there would be sufficient space for lorries within the worksite and it's therefore possible that this would be used for spoil removal.
It was said that the new tunnels would be constructed more traditionally than the Crossrail tunnels, although I wasn't certain what was meant by this.
Based on experience at Angel, it is estimated that closure of the Northern Line would last about 4 months, almost certainly over a summer. The designs aren't completely finalised as the intention is to appoint a contractor within about 18 months and work with them to get ideas for how to maximise the efficiency and speed construction (and thus cost less).
Regarding escalators vs lifts, the former have much higher capacity (obviously) but escalator shafts are "pricey" and escalator maintenance costs more over the life of the asset than does lift maintenance.

Bigger site and escalators definitely. Lifts have a reduced capacity whilst they may suit current demand, TBTC will bring trains closer thus more people will want to be moved. Add that to the fact that in 5 years (and on) the city will be expanding and so will the amount of houses in London. Escalators are pricey but you will be able to move people faster and it will make Bank "future proof" for a larger number of years than lifts would.
It will be a shame if they decide to build lifts only (I understand you need lifts for disabled people anyway). If they do, in 10 years time we will have the same overcrowding as we have now. Installing escalators will be more expensive and they would have wished to do it when they were expanding the platforms anyway.

Absolutely, and the distinct impression I got from the civil engineering chap I was speaking to was that that was what they really wanted to do, but the sums and things needed to be done and having three options looks like more of a consultation than just 3 (and probably people would ask about larger site and just lifts if it wasn't there anyway).
The larger site isn't guaranteed available - each of the buildings are in different ownership, the pot of money available isn't bottomless and planning permission and transport and works act authorisation would need to be got.

They should do it, there is a business case for it. Apply for more funding on the basis that if we chose lifts it will be able to cope until 2015, after 2015 population will have grown and the lifts will regularly block back, exit only will have to be introduced, extra staff will have to be used to move people, etc....
I hope the business in the local area support the biggest project and allow TfL to build upon it. I think it would be unwise to do anything else.

I went their today, and was told by the security that photography was not allowed so well done Alfie. Tuh! When I went there the guy was almost encouraging me to take them! 'Go on, take as many as you want..' I was also told that there would also be additional costs incurred if only 10 KWS was acquired - having to work around the neighbours so to speak. Never was told which was likely to turn out more expensive. I'd take this to mean 'a tube tunnel'.

<snip> I'd take this to mean 'a tube tunnel'. I think what they mean is hand dug using a Greathead shield, as opposed to a TBM.
