note in the latest U/G news that shoreditch old station is only temporarily being used as entertainment venue (authorised by tower hamlets council). Is down for eventual re-development at a future date.

Considering it sold to that art venue for five times the auction estimate.... someone will need to part with serious amounts of £ to get their hands on it.
I'd love to have it... the track level area would be decked out, window from floor to roof [or the floor of the ticket office...] a nice viewing area.... would just have to ask Network Rail to come and chop the forest down every year that grows here!

Acquire that bit of land as well and have it decked over. Just the place to sit out on a warm summers evening with a cold beer in your hand.

its looks like they are damaging original station - i think its grade 2 or 1 which requires permission - also there flats nearby - its really wasteful of small land - i would used that land for other uses like cafe or building a small museum i looked - its 6 story tower but with basement

It apparently isn't a listed building (it was applied for but deemed not suitable according to the heritage statement). The plan though seems to be a generic rectangular box with the station rebuilt on the top - personally I think it will look ridiculous.

what a ridiculous and ill-proportioed monstsrosity. Still it more or less matches most other things done recently. I used to think the 70's were the pits of bad taste.

I tried viewing that application on the Tower Hamlets website, but it's no longer there. Searching for it on the map reveals it has been withdrawn by the applicant, which may be because the applicant thought it would not be given consent:

Ridiculous if it isn't in proportion to the other things around it..other wise I like it.
