The 1950s surface stock was to be similar to the 1952 tube stock which was to be built for the Piccadilly Line. The body profile and seating was decided on car 17001 although the front end apparently was not!
In the end the A stock front was probably based on the R stock but of course without the skirt!

That 1950s mock up looks very similar to the 1952 tube stock mockup

The 1952 Stock reminds of the 'Sunshine Car' 10306..which was converted a short while before of course.
