Is it now classed as 'project completed' and all the focus moves onto the Northern, or is it still being closely monitored for a while to check that everything beds down? Still some software updates and monitoring to be done and the new timetable to bed in. However, installation focus has been on the Northern for some time. And the previous signalling to be removed.

To be fair, I don't think we should be too critical. It's been a difficult 8 years since this whole resignalling started. The Jubbly was supposed to be ready in 2009 ....... I expect there will be bad days until the system settles down but I think the people involved deserve praise for perseverance through all the troubles they've had. I am sorry Mr Tubeprune but I really find this quite a wrong attitude. Maybe you do not have to actually use the Jubilee Line much, especially at weekends, but here is what you are giving praise for that has been "achieved", that is, actually running today 28 June. So far, no more trains running than before - this is is apparently still coming later. Many years late. A big breakdown two days ago in the evening. Many, many wrecked weekends, years beyond the original program. 8 years to change the signals of a straightforward Metro line over. A considerable despec of the original programme, which is the classic way to bring in badly performing projects, by cutting things out. An expectation of further "bad days". What deserves "praise" to a team is a project that comes in on time or earlier, with little disruption to its users, and which works well and brings benefits from day one. This was not one of these projects.

Hardly a straightforward Metro line!
Stanmore - Stratford complications:
Stanmore sidings - Interface with Metropolitan line - Neasden depot - Baker Street, Bakerloo crossover - junction at Green Park - Stratford Market Depot

What deserves "praise" to a team is a project that comes in on time or earlier, with little disruption to its users, and which works well and brings benefits from day one. This was not one of these projects. Yes the project is undoubtedly late - not "many years late" but 2 years late on original (over optimistic in hindsight) prediction and 18 months late on contractual date. If the big breakdown you mean was Sunday evening that was not a TBTC failure I don't know what you mean by despec of the original programme? The contract was for journey time capability (i.e improved journey time) which is what is still being delivered. Perhaps you could elaborate? It is inevitable that any new system will have some teething troubles; that was what the deputy mayor was warning of. Since Sunday, at the risk of inviting problems, there have been very few TBTC problems. Early days yet of course. I cannot imagine anybody would bring in a new timetable (which I assume is what you mean by "benefit") on the same day as commissioning a signalling system in whole or part. The timetable benefit does start to come in 5 weeks time. In addition some of the contracted benefit has already been delivered by way of the 7th car being added. Other benefits already delivered include a more consistent journey time with ATO and a reduction in overall customer journey time, even without a new timetable, and quicker recovery from incidents. Remember also that in the PPP world this project was contracted out to the private sector with a 'world leading' project delivery company so if even they can't bring it in on time who would you recommend to do it?

Was interested to see all the old colour light signals now out of use between finchley Rd and wembley pk on the jubilee tracks yesterday. What happens if met trains need to use those tracks during maintenance / emergencies?

Simple - they can't.

The Jubilee Line is now protected by fixed trainstops in the Neasden and Wembley Park area to prevent Met Line trains from using it. Hence why we have latched up the tripcocks on 96TS.

The project once included the crossovers at Finchley road as a connection point; indeed someone on here commented that the signalling had this designed in. Since these points were removed for somewhat dubious reasons a few years back, is there any chance that at some point in the future they might be relaid? Or has this bit been quietly dropped and forgotten? I can fully see why it wouldn't be a priority now.

The crossover from the Jubilee to the Metropolitan is still intact on the Southbound tracks at Finchley Road but they are not signalled under TBTC by the looks of things
