Note the DMU @ 0.58, presumably on a railtour. I am not sure if I have the date somewhere.

1967....I,errr.... have the album....Though I'd say the DMU photo is rather older than the Super-8 film of 1938 stock...looks very early-60s-ish....I'd agree a Railtour....

Sorry, I meant the DMU tour. I have posted dates before in connection with the last diesels and steam on the Northern. Perhaps it can be found? It would have as been said been sent up through Park Junction via the Northern Heights line from Finsbury Park. Is it a Derby unit? I confess that I know little about the DMMU types!

No - it's Met-Camm - many of these became class 101.

Thanks..I looked at the Met-Cams and was undecided as to whether it was a M-C or Derby. Presumably they were used on Kings X Suburban duties at the time? Just realised that is my post no. 3,000!

Going to see if I could find more info, bingo! - www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/60s/601001rc.htmlThe 'yellow diamond' MetCamms were 79xxxx numbers, not class 101; the ER had some on the GE side (I associate the GN London area at that time with Cravens units)

Pleasant little ditty, but surely one of the longest intros on record - 66 seconds into a 179 seconds recording.
Shorter intro with this version

Metro-Cammell Lightweights it is, thanks: The seven London Midland Region sets (formed DMBS + DTCL) were used on the Bury-Bacup line services, while the other sets were all allocated to the Eastern Region. These sets were used on a variety of lines in East Anglia as well as the (then) non-electrified lines in Essex (Romford-Upminster and Wickford-Southminster branches).
: Wikipaedia Presumably based in Stratford and not tripcock-fitted so had to be double-manned on the Underground?
