Dad mentioned to me last time that I phoned him that the management of Tyne & Wear Metro have replaced the miniature map above the doors with one in the style of an LU line map.
There is, however a slight problem with this arrangement, specifically that the yellow line goes through Monument twice in different directions, so it's both in the centre of the map and off to the far left. Surely only a matter of time before some football supporters from foreign parts manage to take slightly longer than necessary to get from Central Station to St James or similar.
The handle above the window to the left is the one I mentioned in another thread which allows passengers to get the doors open in an emergency.
